Don’t be one of those individuals that believe the word magic when added to anything, like magic pills, or even magic oils that help you lose weight. As you may suspect no magic pills or formulas are available when it comes to losing weight, yet people earn 1000s of dollars taunting promises that end up being empty promises.

Dropping pounds isn’t easy for anyone and no matter how hard you search for it, nor will you come upon any magic out there. You want to lose weight, you just have to cast a compelling vision of the new you as your primary goals to make it a reality. But here’s the opposite side of the same coin when it comes to weight loss and is fast paced reality or people that open their eyes. Its 1 thing to calories counting normal daily food intake, but then who wants to pay mind to counting daily calories drank from beverages?

All of us have to count calories in drinks and you will also, as soon as you understand exactly how many calories an individual person consumes daily in drinks. What it means gaining weight by adding a lot more pounds annually, along with inches to your mid section that becomes the actual tell tale from it. Men’s Health Magazine, 3/ 09 runs a summary editorial precisely on point titled; were drinking more calories than before.

Here’s what NC University reports stated in that timely editorial: 1. the average consumer drinks 450 calories a day 2. that’s a whopping 29 pounds annually in extra weight we have to deal with 3. typical fruit juices, sodas, pops and beverages are either artificially sweetened or sweetened with high fructose corn syrup, especially kids drinks that are nothing more than sweetened water

Another update on high calorie beverages is from Harvard and they seem to be singing the same sad song to a newer melody. Harvard Medical School prepared a paper on this timely subject. Title: Sugar and Obesity: high calorie drinks to blame. Now its more than 100’s of calories a day that becomes extra pounds annually, plus inches at the end of the day. Now it’s a matter of good health.

Their editorial brings serious medical conditions from artificial sweeteners, along with calories from sodas, pops, juices and other beverages. Their claim is that women who drank one or more daily beverages with these high fructose sweeteners were 83% more likely to develop type 2 diabetes than women who didn’t. Not surprisingly, they were also more likely to gain weight.

In a nutshell, bottles flavored waters on the market come up short on a few fronts contain high sucrose levels, expensive and inconvenient. Look to more flavored waters with 0 calories and look at the label of the beverages you drink: number servings and calories per serving are your two starting points. Always look for ways to enhance the flavor of tap water without adding calories. That’s your best solution overall.

In closing but not the last word, with so many calories consumed daily and with your good health on the line, keeping a watchful eye on the beverage label just may help you keep your belt in the same notch! Drink more water and look for ways to enhance the flavor of tap water without adding calories. Water is the real magic formula and as far as those magic drops; let’s just call them natural flavoring concentrates with 0 calories for now. They work and maybe you may find the magic in them in your weight loss program.

Consuming Raw Food To Improve Your Health

Filed Under (Lose Weight) by Susan Warren on 17-08-2010

Tagged Under : , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Eating raw food is known to help improve your health. It can also be very delicious combining vegetables, beans, whole grains, sprouts, and nuts. Of course fruits are included also. It is basically the foods you eat everyday but in their natural state. It could be a salad or veggies and dip.

Food eaten raw is food that is never cooked above 116 degrees. This is to maintain the vitamins and minerals in the food. The process of cooking, leaves food without up to 50 percent of its nutrients. If you boil your foods it can decrease much more. It is why we need so many supplements to get our recommended daily allowance.

Organically grown food is suggested for any diet but more so for eating food raw. The pesticides are not present in the food. More of the vitamins, minerals and natural enzymes are present. These enzymes are needed for proper digestion. When you cook the food 100 percent of the enzymes are eliminated. This makes digestion of food more difficult for your body.

Fiber is a part of a well balanced diet. It seems we can’t get enough of it in our diets and eat specific cereals, muffins, and drink mixes to get what we need. When food is eaten raw you get much more fiber naturally. Your food is whole and unprocessed. A high fiber diet is known to help prevent some diseases such as heart disease. Your immune system function also improves with nutrients being better absorbed in your body.

If you would like to lose weight this diet is a great option. Not only are you looking at better health from weight loss but also from the elimination of processed foods. You would also be getting rid of over cooked and foods full of sugar. A cleansing is suggested before changing your diet to prepare your body. It will help significantly lessen your cravings. Eating food in its natural state allows you to eat plenty of it and not be hungry as most diets seem to require. At the same time you increase your metabolism.

Food that is raw leaves you feeling more energized. This is partly due to the fact that it can be digested significantly faster than cooked food. Many times after eating a meal that has been cooked you feel a little tired. Your body does not have to work as hard or as long to digest its food when it is raw. It is also in the intestinal track less time.

A raw food diet is for everyone. You may not be able to switch to it completely but you can have fresh fruit for breakfast. You can have a salad at lunch or add fresh fruit and vegetables to your lunch. Eat fruit for a snack. Be creative and add more and more to improve health.

We’ve got the exclusive low down on the best raw food diets for greater health now in our complete raw foods overview.

4 Stars Get the combo DVD
Great workout, but you can get this on one DVD with a Rodney Yee Yoga for abs segment and a Patricia Waldron balance ball for abs segment. All are worth having, so you might as well get them for the price of one.

5 Stars Gets The Abs
I have been doing Pilates about a year and a half or so, so I am not quite sure exactly what level I am, but have been practicing pretty consistently and getting better at it. I really like Ana’s DVDs so I wanted to try this one. Even though it is challenging it is very worthwhile to do and OI am able to do alot of it.

There are some harder variations on some Pilates moves that target your abs alot and you feel the moves. The modifications for some of the movements are a big help. If you have done some Pilates and are feeling comfortable with it, this DVD is very worthwhile for the Ab work. If not get one or two of Ana’s other DVDs before you try this one of hers.

4 Stars Fantastic
This is a terrific workout and worth purchasing!! In 25 minutes, Ana will give you an amazing workout.

There are a few exercises I am not yet strong enough to do. But Tara demonstrates the modified poses which helps a lot.

All of the abdominal muscles are worked here. Even those ellusive lower abs. The day after I first did the DVD, I was amazed to feel tightness deep in my core.

Great stuff!

2 Stars just an okay workout
This pilates abs video is not really worth getting if you already have a regular pilates workout dvd, it’s about all the same exercises as a regular pilates dvd.

5 Stars Ana Caban is a pilates GODDESS!
This is a VERY challening pilates routine. While Caban doesn’t add any new exercises to target the abs, she does focus on those traditional mat exercises that are the most ab intensive. She also does more reps on some of them. For example, the Series of 5 (which consists of the Single Leg Stretch, Double Leg Stretch, Single Straight Leg Stretch, Double Straight Leg Stretch, and Criss-Cross) is normally done with 5-8 reps per exercise. Caban does 10 (and she does them SLOWLY! particularly the Double Straight Leg Stretch and Criss-Cross). She also does open/closed leg rocker 5 times each (I believe it’s is traditionally done 3 times each). Also, her general pace is slow and often makes you hold your legs in the air between moves while she talks. This slower pace makes even basic moves very challenging. Caban also adds variations on many exercises to make them even more challenging. On top of that, she does all of this with perfect form and a serene facial expression!

There are a few odd choices made, in my opinion. For example, she only does 3 reps of the neck pull (compared to the traditional 5) and 2 of the Spine Twist (instead of the traditional 4). The only exercise I miss (and can’t understand why she omits it) is the Spine Stretch Forward. This move feels SOOOO good (particularly after the series of 5) and does work the abs somewhat. I also think that, for an abs video, she could bump up the teasers a bit. She does three teaser 3s (arms and legs together) and on the last teaser, she adds arm circles. Don’t get me wrong, these are challenging as it is (especially when you go directly into the hip circles), but I love the teasers and would have loved a full set (the traditional advanced method is teaser 1, teaser 2, then teaser 3, 3 reps each).

In the end, this is a great over all core routine. While I wish she had added a few more exercises, what she does offer is still incredibly challenging. I’ve been doing this DVD for months and still finding it difficult and rewarding. You will not be disappointed with this one.

5 Stars Great Intro Workout
I love all of these workouts. Great instructor. The music is fun and the setting is very appealing. It is so much fun that you don’t notice how hard your body is working. It is is a good introductory workout that will get results.

4 Stars Enough Variety
I use a lot of different work out tapes and have incorparated this into my weekly routine and I really like both workouts and you can mix and match…

2 Stars so-so
As far as a workout goes, it’s pretty similar to all the other Abs Diet workouts (including women’s) so if you’re looking to change up your routine, pick something else that’s more fun. Also, the main instructor guy does not have all of his stuff together. He seems almost lost throughout most of it. One good thing about this DVD though is that it has options for a 3-day, 4-day, 5-day, and 6-day routine which is great. But in hindsight, I should have chosen something else.

5 Stars one of the best HIIT segments
a great baseline dvd that doesn’t involve extraneous moves and simple enough for routine use.. you WILL burn calories and run like a rabbit outside because of this conditioning, buy it and don’t judge it from the other abs 1 dvd which is so-so

4 Stars Challenging
I think this is a excellent workout for an advanced workout. It is very challenging. You really need to be dedicated to stick to it. My only complaint is that it is dry. There is no personality in the trainer, no music, nothing to make it fun to help you get through it.

4 Stars AB Blast
These are quick abdominal exercises that work. Nice variety & perfect for a faster workout that still leaves you feeling like you’ve accomplished something.

5 Stars Real Ab Blast!
I am very pleased with this DVD. It has 5 very good and very professional trainers that really know what they are doing. My favorites are Violet Zaki and Kimberly. The most challenging work out for is with Gay Gaspar.

I added this DVD to my regular routine and has been doing it for about 3 months. I really can see the results already!

It is not for beginners.

I would recommend this DVD if you are really serious about getting nice and flat abs!

5 Stars Great DVD!
I am always on the lookout for hard AB workouts. I am by no means in great shape in my abdominal area, but unless it’s a tough workout, I really don’t feel like I’m even doing any good. I love Tamilee Webb’s I Want that Body, but since there are only 2 ab sections on that DVD, I need a change up. I saw in another review that this one was as good as Tamilee Webb’s so I decided to try it. I am not dissapointed. This DVD does live up to the reivews it’s been given. The intros by the trainers at the beginning of each section is a little annoying but I just fast forward through it and I’m fine. I found that Violet and Kendall’s routine were probably the least challenging (although by no means easy). I usually pair those with one of the other trainers routines to get a good 20 minute ab workout. If all of the other Star Trainers DVDs are this good I think I’ll buy them all!

5 Stars great ten minute workouts
I have this and two other ten minute ab workouts. I have been able to chissle my abs into a six pack squeezing these workouts into my busy life. They are challenging enough to keep using them even when you at at a more advanced stage.

5 Stars Great DVD!
I love this AB video. The star trainers are great, I have all of their exercise DVD’s. The ab video is nice because each work out is different enough that you don’t get burned out on them. I do an alternating different one almost every day- and its been very effective. (my boyfriend has commented on my newly-formed sexy abs) ;)
